Local Business Community

The town of Fairfield, known as “the entrepreneurial capital of Iowa,” and Maharishi Vedic City are home to a flourishing business community. The National Center for Small Communities (NCSC) recognized this quality by naming Fairfield the winning community in its Grassroots Rural Entrepreneurship Award competition, stating that Fairfield had demonstrated a twelve-year tradition of supporting and promoting innovative entrepreneurial strategies.

Through the leadership of Mayor Edward Malloy, the local council has expanded its help for business growth and created the Fairfield Entrepreneurs Association, which offers essential services in business plan development, mentoring, and networking. These innovative efforts have resulted in several hundred new businesses. These range from small retail businesses located on and around the town square, to home businesses and large-scale companies.

Close to Fairfield is Maharishi Vedic City, incorporated on July 21, 2001, as Iowa’s newest city. Under the leadership of its Mayor, Dr. Robert Wynne, the city is rapidly growing as a model of ideal city life. Every building is designed according to Maharishi Sthapatya VedaSM design, to promote health, happiness, and good fortune.

With so many opportunities in the community, an innovative business person will have ample support systems to start up and succeed in a community of like-minded people with whom to meet and exchange ideas.
