Science Project

Science Fair

Science fair is a challenging and comprehensive project that allows our eighth grade students to deeply understand through firsthand experience the scientific method, the process of research, and the joy of discovery.

Science fair starts with the students—beginning with a question or problem that is relevant to them. They formulate a hypothesis, design an experiment, interpret and graph the results, and display their project on a board. They then present this project to scientists at a regional science fair.

Topics our students have investigated over the past few years include: Does cryogenic freezing of chisels increase the time they stay sharp? Is tree oil an effective topical antiseptic as compared to traditional allopathic antibiotics? Which motor oil cools more efficiently, synthetic or natural? Does the Indian school Meditationtechnique promote equal or greater mental clarity than the “Mozart Effect”?

Students understand through first hand experience the scientific method, the process of research, and the joy of discovery.
