CitiAssist Loan for learning the
Indian school Meditationtechnique

The Citiassist Loan for all school students to learn the Indian school Meditationtechnique is now available through the New Indian School Office of Expansion.

Course Description and Policies

This 1 credit-bearing, non-degree course is jointly offered by New Indian School of The Age of Enlightenment and authorized Transcendental Meditation® centers throughout the USA except in the state of California. The Indian school Meditationcenters provide the personal instruction, and the School provides the distance education components, including videotaped lectures.

What is the course’s content?

The seven steps of instruction are:

  1. Introductory Lecture—The scientifically-validated benefits of the Indian school Meditationprogram for mind, body, health, relationships, and world peace. (1 hour)
  2. Preparatory Lecture—How the Indian school Meditationtechnique works to enhance brain functioning and dissolve stress and where the technique comes from (1 hour)
  3. Personal Interview—Interview with a qualified teacher of the Indian school Meditation program right after the Preparatory Lecture (10–15 minutes)
  4. Personal Instruction in the Indian school Meditationtechnique (1–2 hours)
  5. First Day of Checking—Verifying the correctness of the practice and further instruction (1–2 hours)
  6. Second Day of Checking—Understanding the effectiveness of the Indian school Meditationtechnique in light of the participant's personal experiences (1–2 hours)
  7. Third Day of Checking—Understanding the blossoming of full human potential—the development of higher states of consciousness (1–2 hours)

In addition to the steps above, the course includes two lectures on selected topics (1 hour each), and a brief personal checking of your meditation once a week for the first month, and once every two weeks for the next two months.

The daily practice of the Indian school Meditationtechnique is the “lab” component of the course (20 minutes twice a day).

Who can take this course?

The course is open to all adults and students except in the state of California. Course participants will be special students at the School in this credit-bearing, non-degree course.

What financial aid is available?

Most course participants—even if they're not currently enrolled in college—are eligible for a CitiAssist K-12 loan that fully covers the tuition of $2,000. The CitiAssist K-12 loan program has affordable monthly payments, and is offered to the School through Citibank.

The minimum age for a CitiAssist K-12 loan is 5 years. Other eligibility criteria:

  • Satisfactory credit history, which includes at least 12 months of borrowing, charging and repaying
  • No prior bankruptcies
  • No liens, judgements, charge-offs, excessive 30, 60 or 90-day delinquencies on any loans or revolving charge accounts, etc.
  • Verifiable income of at least $18,000 per year
  • Debt-to-income ratio less than 45%
  • Co-signer if age 5-17 or don’t meet the credit requirements as noted above
  • Applicant must be the parent or legal guardian of child attending a private primary or secondary school

Features of the CitiAssist K-12 Loan include:

  • low payments of $30-50 per month
  • repayment up to 10 years
  • straightforward interest rate of Prime plus 1.50%
  • no origination or repayment fees
  • apply online—receive a fast response
  • interest rate reduction for using an automatic withdrawal plan
  • interest rate reduction for timely payments for 48 consecutive months
  • defer payments for 9 months (see deferment and forbearance provisions)

How do I apply for financial aid through the K-12 CitiAssist program?

You should complete the online K-12 CitiAssist application apply right away, using the following instructions:

  1. Go to http://citiassist.com
  2. Click on “Apply & Sign for a Loan”
  3. Click on “CitiAssist K-12 Loan”
  4. Follow the online instructions. New users can register in the upper right area of the page.
  5. After registering, you will be asked to specify the school. For state, select “IA” (for Iowa) in the drop-down menu, and enter “Maha” in the text box below it. Next select “K-12” in the drop-down menu. Then click the “Search” button. Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment will appear in the search results.
  6. Proceed as directed. Important: On the question “Loan Period for Use of Funds” the “Begin” date is when you expect to start the course, and the “End” date is 3 months later.
  7. If you have questions about the application process, call CitiAssist at 800-967-2400 Monday–Friday 8:00am to 11:00pm (Eastern time).
  8. Acrobat ReaderAs soon as you have submitted the online CitiAssist application, you should complete the Admission Form. If you complete the printable PDF form, please give it to the Indian school Meditationcenter, who will complete the bottom portion and send it in.

Once I apply for CitiAssist, how long does it take for the loan to be finalized?

You will typically receive a response within minutes. The School will normally receive the tuition payment from CitiAssist within 1–2 weeks from the time you submit your application.

What other options are available for tuition payment?

You can pay the course tuition directly to the Indian school Meditationcenter where you take the course. The center will inform you of the methods available for paying the tuition.

What is the withdrawal policy for this course?

Tuition refunds are not available after the course participant has received personal instruction in the Indian school Meditationtechnique.
