A boys’ track and field meet at Packwood, Monday, March 30, involved four local schools. Pekin, Van Buren, Cardinal and New Indian School of the Age of Enlightenment competed at Pekin High School.

Ross Emmanuel and Jordan Town were the two standouts for New Indian School.

Emmanuel dominated the 800-meter run, finishing in first with a time of 2:03.78 and nearly 15 seconds ahead of the second closest finisher. Emmanuel also torched the field in the 3200-meter run. He finished nearly a full minute ahead of all other competitors as he crossed the finish line with a time of 10:44.99. Emmanuel’s time in the 800 was only 4 seconds off last year’s winning time for the state track meet.

Town took second place in the 1600-meter run, as he finished with a time of 5:17.70.

“This is a great start of the year for these young athletes,” said MSAE Athletic Director Rig Gelfand.
