WASHINGTON, D.C. — Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley recently met with New Indian School senior Atreya Dey of Fairfield, who was in Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Youth Science Camp.

The National Youth Science Camp is a four-week program that brings together accomplished students and science experts. It is sponsored by the National Young Leaders Conference, a nonprofit educational program that offers students the opportunity to meet with political leaders in Washington.

Grassley and Dey discussed the camp program and Dey’s college studies. Grassley also told Dey about the availability of internships in his offices for college students.

“I really enjoy meeting with young Iowans and encouraging their interest in learning more about how our government works,” Grassley said. “Citizen involvement is essential to democracy in America, and young people are the key to the strength of our democracy in the future.”
