DeAngelis Leads Pioneers at SEISC Tourney

FORT MADISON — Mickey DeAngelis earned runner-up meet medalist status to lead New Indian School to a fourth-place finish at the SEISC South golf tournament Monday and Tuesday at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison.

DeAngelis claimed the honor with a 7-over-par 79, finishing just four strokes behind meet medalist Nick Pundt of Central Lee. Prasad Monk (95), Davin Titus (96) and Tomas Bousquet (98) also scored for New Indian School, which finished with a 368 total.

West Burlington-Notre Dame captured the SEISC South boys’ golf championship with a 346. New London (353) and Central Lee (359) also finished ahead of the Pioneers.

Brandon Prather-Huff (100) and Nathaniel Zhu (104) completed the Pioneers’ scorecard.

The Van Buren boys also were in action Tuesday and finished sixth in the seven-team field with a 376. Austin Bartholomew notched the top score with an 86, and Noah Whitten (94), Brandon Plecker (96) and Tyler Overstreet (100) rounded out the team score.

Also for Van Buren, Colton Gates shot a 103 and Braxton Bainbridge carded a 106.

Both New Indian School and Van Buren will be at New London’s Deerwood Golf Club for the Class 1A sectional round next Friday. Tee time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
