Celebrating the International Day of Peace

On September 21st, Maharishi School celebrated the International Day of Peace for the second year in a row.

As stated by the United Nations, "Peace Day should be devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples…”

Since its inception, Peace Day has marked our personal and planetary progress toward peace. Maharishi School students proudly joined with millions of people around the world to commemorate and celebrate this day.

The celebration was organized by Mrs. Evelyn Ellinghaus and Mrs. Ju Reed, who also emceed the event.

With 23 nations represented in our Upper School alone, the celebration featured a Parade of Nations by our international students. Students from each country greeted the assembly by saying “Hello” and “May peace prevail on earth,” in their native language. Simultaneously, pictures chosen by students from each country were shown on the big screen in the auditorium.

Students from the country of India greeted us in Hindi.

Wei Xi and Jiang Hefei, two of our boarding students from China, played a beautiful violin and flute duet of Chinese traditional music, and received a standing ovation from the entire student body.

Mrs. Lijuan Cai made a charming 5-minute video of the event.

Dr. Beall played a video interview of the Founder of Maharishi School, His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, reminding us of our vital role in helping create a peaceful world through our daily group practice of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhis programs.

At 12 noon, our students, faculty and staff joined millions of peace loving individuals around the world for a moment of silence. The impact of millions of people in all parts of the world, coming together for one day of peace, was immense.
