Camp Hantesa

At the beginning of each school year students and faculty in the Girls School enjoy a delightful three days at Camp Hantesa near Boone, Iowa. Older and younger girls join together to participate in team-building activities, creating a feeling of coherence that sets the tone for the year.

This year our camp was Thursday through Saturday, September 27 – 29. We had perfect weather – sunny and warm all day and a bit cooler at night. While we were there, our four teams rotated through a high ropes challenge, a climbing wall, archery, and a team spirit activity. The camp culminated in a giant scavenger hunt team competition.

Some of the girls shared their favorite moments:

“The best part of Hantesa was when we were at the bonfire all talking to the teachers and laughing with my friends, really hard. I loved making so many jokes and funny memories.” –Kadie

“My favorite moment of Hantesa was sitting around the camp fire singing while Dia played her guitar.” –Alina

I liked telling scary ghost stories by the camp fire!” – Sophia G.

“My favorite part of camp was laughing hysterically during the meal times.” – Dia

“The best moment of Hantesa for me was, when I got to the top of the rock climbing wall the first time.” –Anna U.

“My favorite moment at Hantesa was being with all the girls and getting to know them better, especially the girls on my team. I also liked all the activities we did, and WINNING!” smile – Gabriella

“I liked playing capture the flag with everyone.” – Jaya

“Hi, my favorite moment at camp Hantesa was the time when we all were at the “bond fire.” Everyone was all there and bonding. It felt like a big family. Too bad you weren't there!” – Flower
